A veteran owned and operated family business, Mansfield Sanitation was established in 2015 with the acquisition of John Darby Septic. Since that time, Mansfield has added a multitude of equipment and services to provide our customers with the highest quality service available.
Mansfield Sanitation is operated by Joe Mansfield. Joe has been working in the sewer and waste industry since the age of seven. A U.S. Navy veteran, Joe has decades of expert knowledge of the septic and drain cleaning industry.

Q: How often do I need septic pumping services?
The standard recommendation is every 3–5 years. However, the frequency depends on your household size, the size of your tank, and your water usage. Q: If my pipes are draining slowly, is it my septic system?

Q: What are common signs your septic system is failing?
One of the most common issues is sinks, tubs, and toilets not draining properly. Other signs include water and odor around the tank and leach bed areas, bright green spongy grass over the drain field (even in dry weather), and pooling water or muddy soil near the septic system.
Q: Does my septic system need bacteria to function properly?
Yes, it does. People often use bleach and antibacterial products for household cleaning, which kills both good and bad bacteria in a septic system. Your septic system relies on natural bacteria to break down solids. Avoid pouring harsh chemicals, bleach, or antibacterial soaps down your drains in large quantities.
Q: Can I do septic pumping myself?
It is not recommended. Septic pumping involves hazardous waste and chemicals in the sludge produced by your septic system. Hiring professionals will not only keep you safe but will also get the job done faster and allow for the proper disposal of waste. Q: What can you safely flush down the toilet?
Only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed. Do not flush cigarette filters, paper towels, tissues, bleach, baby wipes, grease, dental floss, or feminine hygiene products. These items can cause blockages and damage your septic system over time.
Q: How do I know if I need drain cleaning?
Common signs include slow-draining sinks or tubs, gurgling sounds from drains, foul odors coming from drains, and water backing up. If you notice any of these, contact us — we have hydro jetting and video inspection equipment to diagnose and clear the problem quickly.
